WHAT THE AUTHORITIES SAID:

– “When we look around the world and we look at countries that are opening up, living freely with COVID and the Delta strain, they are able to do that because half of the population is vaccinated. We are nowhere near that yet so until we get higher rates of vaccination we cannot afford to live with the virus and we need to quash it now and we need to get as close to the zero number as possible before we open up.” – Premier Gladys Berejiklian

– “We are now not only looking at areas where the transmission has occurred but trying to prevent any super-seeding events.” – Ms Berejiklian

– “Every time you set foot out of your house, make sure you ask yourself these following questions: can you do it online? Can you do click and collect? And if you need to go to the store to collect the item and it is essential, can you make sure that you stay there for the most minimal period? We do not want you to go out of the house unless you are very clear on the purpose and intent of why you are going out.” – chief health officer Kerry Chant

– “We’re asking for the (southwest Sydney) community, all communities across NSW, to work with police, to understand their responsibilities, to share the responsibility.” – NSW Police deputy commissioner Gary Worboys
