That’s what fans are wondering about Desiree Hartsock, who was blindsided after suitor Brooks Forester bowed out of the competition last week, telling her he wasn’t in love with her.

In a sneak peek clip from Monday’s finale, a tearful Desiree admits having him gone “throws everything off.”

“It broke my heart to have him say those things to me,” she said.

Hartsock still has two suitors remaining — Chris Siegfried and Drew Kenney — whom she calls “amazing guys who do want to love me, and who do love me.” But, she added, “I just can’t love them as much.”

“As wishy-washy as he was, there are definitely regrets. He was in tears and emotionally crushed once Des started professing her love. He said as much,” he told People of Brooks. “It’s absolutely possible for him to come back in the game. She may be open to it or maybe she learned her lesson and he’s not the guy anymore.”

With or without Brooks back in the picture, this is the episode where Hartsock must decide what she wants to do next — and whether that involves accepting a proposal.
