Bonds Next Uniform May have Prison Stripes
What are we actually after here? Do we want to teach Mr. Bonds a class and make an unit of him, or perhaps a model inmate? By no means do I condone Bonds’ conduct, or the actions of any athlete that cheats to win. But there’s got to be a much better alternative to imposing implications in situations this way. I mean really? The correctional system cannot bear up beneath the weight of its own inadequate infrastructure and as of today, we are faced with the possibility of putting our tax dollars to work hard to pay for a suite in Cell Block C for a fallen baseball hero..
I am not a baseball fan, but if we are likely to utilize the prison direction for each doping other athletes or baseball player, we may as well begin stringing them up. Let us not kid ourselves. The priorities of ours are only a tad askew if we continue to have child molesters on the avenues (and, seemingly, in our schools) together with other hardened crooks. We may not like the thought of being duped, however, I do think we’ve fallen very far from grace ourselves if this’s what consumes us. We do not need another steroid scandal whether it is in baseball, wrestling, track, or any additional sport. Is Bonds a danger to society, or just a threat to himself? Are we upset because we suspect he lied, or as we have been the people supposedly being lied to? If lying is a bad thing, then most people deserve being indicted. If doping is a criminal offense, then, do not stop with Barry Bonds.
We have American soldiers risking their lives for our safety. You will find veterans who do not have work or casing, as well as we’re obsessed with setting a tick mark in the box on our To Do list with “lock up Barry Bonds” beside it? It’s shaping our values and those of our kids, and this is an affront to everything the nation of ours ought to stand for.
I advise that instead of also thinking about sending Barry Bonds to prison that the salary of his be paid to our Border Patrol. That to me, sounds like a good investment decision.
